About Kiki Photo Tours — Photograph Porto With a Local Guide
About Me — The Person Behind the Tours
Hi, I’m Pieter, a professional photographer and the guy behind Kiki Photo Tours. Before settling in Porto, I worked as a photographer in Hong Kong and Vietnam.
Over the years, I’ve developed a deep understanding of light, composition, and storytelling. I started offering tours to share this experience and to help others notice details they might otherwise miss. My goal is to help you take photographs that feel personal and alive — whether you’re using a phone or a camera.
My Tours — What You’ll Experience
In 2013 I started doing photography tours in Vietnam. There I had thousands of customers from 40+ countries.
At Kiki Photo Tours, the focus is always on learning through exploration. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced photographer, my tours are designed to:
- Teach you composition, light, and atmosphere
- Offer hands-on guidance in real-world locations
- Adapt to your skill level and interests
- Transform your photos into memories you love
Tour options:
- Porto Highlights — a relaxed, all-around walk through Porto’s photogenic streets.
- Porto By Night — focus on low-light creativity and long exposure techniques.
- Private Tour — fully customized to your needs.
More details about me
I’ve lived and worked in Hong Kong and Vietnam, where my photography was featured in books, magazines, travel brochures, and advertising campaigns. In Hanoi, I exhibited my work in several galleries and had the honour of photographing the future King and Queen of the Netherlands, capturing their meetings with the Vietnamese president and prime minister, as well as cultural events.
In 2024, I relocated to Porto, Portugal, where I continue my work as a professional photographer. Over time, I discovered that sharing my knowledge on photography tours is incredibly fulfilling. Helping guests see the city through a creative lens, try new techniques, and capture moments they never thought possible is deeply rewarding.
Photography has transformed the way I experience the world: it slows me down, sharpens my curiosity, and helps me connect with people and places. When I’m not guiding tours, I’m usually:
- Exploring new corners of Porto
- Experimenting with new photography techniques
- Planning creative routes
- Writing tips to help others improve
If you want to see Porto through a creative lens and take home images you truly love, I’d be delighted to guide you.
What to expect
- Personalized Guidance.
- Small groups for maximum attention and learning.
- Discover the secret streets, alleys, and viewpoints only locals know.
- Hands-On Techniques: Learn practical photography tips that you can apply immediately
- Cultural Experience. Combine photography with Porto’s rich history, colors, and lifestyle.
- After the tour you will receive a package of edited photos I took of you, making your trip even more memorable. (optional)
- You will also get access to many articles I have written on photography. Camera settings that matter, all sorts of techniques, explanations on why/how taking a particular photo and the best links to online resources.
Being from The Netherlands, I can also do my tours in Dutch. Apart from tours, I also offer separate photography workshops in Porto. If you are wondering what to do on a rainy day in Porto, just contact me and we can do it anywhere, even at or around your hotel. When it is dry, you might as well book a private tour.
Why the name Kiki Photo Tours? It’s my daughter’s name.
Reviews
You can check out reviews of my tours in Vietnam on Tripadvisor and Google — they’re full of happy faces and glowing feedback.
Unfortunately I could not bring those lovely reviews with me to Porto, so I have to start from scratch again.
See you on tour!
